They
are a bunch of unsung heroes of the meet, without whom we would not
be able to function, They don’t spend any money, They don’t make
any money, but over the weekend they make sure that all the items
needed in all the venues are there when they are needed, Usually
requiring that they start work very early in the morning. They need to
erect tents, Take chairs and tables to where they are needed, erect
bollards or barriers where required, make sure all the cooking
equipment is in place, etc.. etc.. The name originated some years ago,
I don’t know when but they all seam to enjoy doing what they do or
are they just gluttons for punishment.
There
is a great camaraderie among them and it can be great fun, especially
when Monday night arrives and they have moved everything back to where
it came from they can “celebrate” a little, or a lot around the
town.
Anyone
who would like to be involved with the meet in a small way and have
some fun at the same time without having to be high profile then the
Black Hang Gang is the ideal opportunity for you. If anyone is
interested in getting involved with them, should see Pete Hill or any
other Committee member or e-mail howcanihelp@richmondmeet.co.uk
we encourage to get new people involved to ensure that the meet
continues to give the people of the town and visitors alike a full and
enjoyable spring bank holiday weekend and the contributions of the
Black hand Gang is invaluable towards that end.
